SOUND Frequency Supporting Coherence and Regulation

Sometimes the signs and pointers toward alignment aren't as obvious as what we're expecting to find.

When I was going through my dramatic awakening in 2016, one of the things that helped support me tremendously was sound/ frequency.

At the time, little was available widely, yet I was guided to music with Sanskrit chants, Tibetan metal Bowls, and crystal singing Bowls. Some of you may have heard bits of these stories before.

I kept having a visual shape show up in inner vision and in dream time. It was only after the fact that I came to understand that it was the shape of a crystal singing bowl! I didn’t get why I kept seeing and doodling a cup-like shape. I was being guided to sound for healing and for pleasure and, later, for sharing through my work.

I was moving through a hard divorce at the time, and also in the process of healing many chronic illnesses. Seemingly randomly, I came across a cd with crystal singing bowls and bought that along with a Deva Premal CD, both of which I listened to over and over again purely as a distraction technique and an attempt to calm my nervous system. I had no idea that both were supporting my deeper awakening and healing. I started noticing that I was happier, that I was toning and singing along, that I felt better for longer stretches.

I was also doing other pivotal things to restore wellness and expand conscious awareness. However, I’d like to focus on sound now because it was one of the simplest and easiest access points to creating the conditions necessary to come home to myself in new ways. And I’ve witnessed time and time again, many who awaken or regulate in deeper ways simply by incorporating sound into their regular practices or by listening to higher frequencies in some way.

I was simply doing it because it was more enjoyable than anything else that was being experienced at the time. I was having new channeling coming in and new sensations of vibrations inside my body as all began to reconfigure, transmute, and realign. And I also started to notice that rather than something happening to me, I was choosing it. I was choosing it all, through the simple practice of being with higher frequency sounds.

I bought crystal singing Bowls and Tibetan metal Bowls. I started playing them every day. And more opened, quickly. An equal part of the conditions was the pleasure in the process. Because it was highly pleasurable, because it was simple, because it was beautiful, because it felt delicious in my body (which is no small thing as I was accustomed to large amounts of pain rather than pleasure), because it was novel (new to my experience), because because because…. I was showing up for myself. I was consciously engaging and getting to know inner wisdom ways anew.

Even though there are many inexpensive options now, you don’t have to buy crystal bowls. So many people now offer sound work in some way or another. And there are plenty of free options on Spotify and other places now. Maybe for you it’s not crystal bowls or Sanskrit singing. Maybe it’s something else. But there’s a gentle suggestion here to experiment, to stay curious, to bring attention to your felt sense and see what it feels like. To see what happens if you start opening within, and if you start opening your vocal expression (even if that means simply singing or humming along).

The frequencies support coming into a more coherent and regulated state through entrainment in the Field and through co-regulation with other people (if in a group) for more ease. It’s one of the simplest self care practices. It’s just a matter of choosing a frequency experience that feels aligned in the moment, and opening to what’s present while resting.

If you’re new to sound work, there are plenty of places offering a plethora of different offerings both in person and online. People usually call them sound baths or sound healing or sound therapy. I’m offering a Sacred Sound Field™ this Saturday in Tucson, should that feel aligned for you. There are a few spots left. Details can be accessed via the link HERE. And, whether I see you there or not, tune in (couldn’t resist the pun) to your inner wisdom and explore if sound is one of the ways that will be supportive for you during these change times.
